Accolade Hospice Announces Award

Accolade Hospice has announced that Phil Hieger, LMSW, ACHP-SW, has earned the advanced credential of Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Social Worker as set forth by the National Association of Social Workers and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. The credential was designed by social work leaders in hospice and palliative care for social workers who meet national standards of excellence.

Hieger serves as medical social worker in support of Accolade’s hospices in Burleson. He has worked for Accolade since 2007. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, he specializes in the psychosocial realm of hospice care, proving patients and families with counseling, emotional support, bereavement, and linkage to community resources. He is a graduate of Andrews University and Western Michigan University and has more than 30 years combined experience in the fields of mental health, aging, long term care and social work education. Before joining Accolade he served as program director of the social work program at Southwestern Adventist University, in Keene. He and his wife, Leeann, reside in Burleson.
